Aliteracy (alit·er·a·cy): The quality or state of being able to read but uninterested in doing so. It’s an ugly word aliteracy, don’t you think? I don’t like to use words like that but there seems to be no alternative, because illiteracy doesn’t capture the predicament we are dealing with, “people who can read but don’t”. [...]
